Goals of the QA Audit Department:
- to develop quality culture in the field of higher education and science
- to improve national guidelines for quality assurance
- to organise national network of higher education QA units
- to encourage international cooperation and exchange of experience and good practice.
Goals are achieved by:
1. Organising external QA audit of higher education institutions and scientific organisations to ascertain:
- degree of development and efficiency of the quality assurance system which is under review, on the basis of Agency criteria
- quality of academic activities in comparison with the ESG
- achieved results of higher education institutions and scientific organisations
2. Publishing reports on external QA audit on the Agency web-site, including the analyses of their effect on quality of higher education and science in the Republic of Croatia
3. Continuous improvement of external quality assurance audit procedure
4. Developing cooperation with academic community – organising seminars, workshops and forums on quality assurance issues
5. Developing cooperation with similar agencies abroad, for the purpose of exchanging experience in external QA audit, transfer of knowledge and gaining new insight into models of external audit.
In order to popularise extremely multi-disciplinary field of quality assurance in higher education to Croatian academic community and other stakeholders, we created Glossary with basic terms and definitions in that field.
Activities of the Department:
1. External quality assurance audit of higher education institutions and scientific organisations in the Republic of Croatia
Assessing the degree of development and efficiency of the quality assurance systems, in line with ESG, and its contribution to continuous improvement of the quality culture of HEIs and scientific organisations.

2. Organising seminars with quality assurance related themes for HEIs and stakeholders in the system of higher education and science
An important role of the QA Audit Department is providing support to the QA units established by higher education institutions and scientific organisations.

3. Seminars for audit experts
Taking care of the quality of its work, QA Audit Department pays a special attention to training of audit experts. Upon the completion of training, participants are awarded with certificates and are included in ASHE database of audit experts.

4. International cooperation
The Department is actively cooperating with foreign agencies which are members of ENQA, INQAAHE and CEE Network as well as members of EAIR, EUA and IUA. We implement examples of good international practice in our own activities, as well as transfer them to our stakeholders.
