The Agency for Science and Higher Education was received into European Consortium for Accreditation (ECA) membership at the organization’s assembly held on June 15th in Madrid, Spain.
ECA was established in 2003 as an association of European agencies for quality assurance in higher education, with the aim of mutual recognition of accreditation decisions. Its activities were then expanded to establishment of a common experts’ database, Qrossroads, a database of accredited study programmes, and development of guidelines and lists of best practices for training of experts and evaluating assessment of learning outcomes. ECA membership will strengthen the international recognisability of AZVO, enable closer cooperation and sharing of good practices with agencies responsible for some of the most successful European higher education systems, and direct participation in the development of quality assurance in higher education at the European level.
